Seizing the Moment: A Lesson from RV Life

One lazy decision nearly erased our most breathtaking memory. Discover how a simple choice during our 6-year RV adventure taught us the importance of seizing every opportunity.
Seizing the Moment: A Lesson from RV Life
Trillium Lake Looking toward Mount Hood in Oregon. Picture my Wife took we were there.

One lazy decision nearly erased our most breathtaking memory.
Fatigue almost won. Adventure almost lost.
A wake-up call from 6 years of Full-Time RV life:

We were tired. Tempted to stay in.
"We're here all week," we reasoned. "We can go later."
Something made us go anyway.

And thank God we did.

A short drive to Trillium Lake.
A quick walk to the viewpoint.
Mount Hood reflected perfectly in the water.

Then, the unexpected highlight:
A Bald Eagle, fishing right in front of us.
An unforgettable moment we almost missed.

Bald Eagle Fishing on Trillium Lake

We took photos, soaking it all in.
Grateful we fought our laziness.

The next day? Cloudy.
The rest of the week? Rainy.
That one decision made our entire trip.

5 hard truths about seizing the moment:

  1. That view you're considering?
    It might be cloudy tomorrow.
  2. The friend you keep meaning to call?
    Life changes fast.
  3. Your brilliant business idea?
Someone else is already working on it.
  4. That course you want to take?
The skills it teaches could be outdated soon.
  5. Those memories you want to make?
    Time is ticking away.

Inertia is the enemy of growth.
Comfort is the adversary of achievement.

But here's the paradox:
Rest is essential.
Downtime fuels creativity.

The key? Intentional action.

Choose your moments of rest wisely.
But when opportunity knocks, answer the door.

Bring the future into your present. Ask yourself:
"Will I regret NOT doing this more than I'll savor my current comfort?"

Your future self is watching.
Make them proud.

Don't let your story be full of "almosts" and "could haves."
Make it a tale of "I'm glad we dids."

Godspeed,
Zach Hammer
